Dear Heavenly Father,
We gather this morning just as the disciples gathered so long ago. We have come through days of darkness and despair, waiting and wondering. And like the disciples, as we come together this morning, we wonder not only what this day holds, but every day in the future. The disciples wondered these things because their leader had been killed. We have the benefit of knowing already that Christ is risen! So we pray this morning that as we watch the sunrise in this beautiful place, we might know that because he lives, we have hope and a future, we have joy, and we have new life!
Help us, God, not take Christ’s resurrection for granted. But as the sun rises this morning, open our eyes and help us to see the glory of his great resurrection! As we sing songs and hear the Word proclaimed, help us to understand the glory of this wonderful gift! And above all, help us to be Easter people! People who proclaim your message of new life near and far, among all we meet, in Jesus name!
